Dull, Pitted Granite Countertop

A client in the North Shore area of Winnetka had a granite countertop that was showing wear and tear in certain areas due to years of use. The granite finish was dull, and there were slightly pitted areas. The client wanted the granite countertop restored to its original luster.

Our Granite Restoration Process

Using tarps, draping, and painters tape to protect all necessary areas, the technician's first step was to hone the areas that were showing a wear pattern. Our goal was to hone to a depth just below the damage to expose a fresh new smooth surface. Using a hand-held grinder and granite polishing compounds, we polished the granite countertop, restoring the high-gloss finish. Our final step was to apply an enhancer sealer to bring back the deep, rich color of the stone. The result was a restored granite countertop with a finish that looked just as pristine as the factory finish.
